During the excavation of a construction pit in the village of Lünten (Western Germany) a section of limestones of Wealden 5 and 6 age could be studied. In these limestone a fossil tidal gully filled with shales was found. It is believed that these Wealden beds were deposited in a tidal flat environment along a shore line possibly located only a few hundreds of metres to the North of the studied section.
