The Quaternary history of the Gooi area is very diverse. After a marine phase lasting half a million years, rivers ruled the region for more than 1.5 million years. During the youngest cold phase of the Saalian glacial, inland ice formed ice-pushed ridges in the landscape. The melting ice produced a sequence of sediments. During the Weichselian, wind action resulted in both erosion and sedimentation. Six semi-permanent exposures are described briefly.
