The lichenological party of the 1989 spring excursion concentrated on two areas in the province of Noord-Brabant. In the Veldersbos area between Boxtel and Best, formerly known as the place where 50 cm long Usnea thalli were collected, not a single Usnea was found now. Instead several crusts were collected. In a haevily polluted area near Budel lichens were collected on all kinds of substrates, including iron and a transmission cable. Many species (indicated with !) were found on substrates on wich they were formerly not known from the Netherlands (see Dutch checklist). Surprisingly two undiscribed Micarea species are present in this area.
