Recently, T. Karlsson in Flora Nordica made an end to the confusion around the identity of the plants in the Cerastium pumilum-group, by presenting good diagnostic characters for both C. pumilum s. str. and C. glutinosum. Re-identification of all Leiden collections has led to the conclusion that C. pumilum was collected in two railway locations only (between 1975 and 1983), while all other herbarium collections could be identified as C. glutinosum. Now the question arises whether C. pumilum is an indigenous species in the Netherlands or not. Apart from that, it appeared easy to identify incompletely collected specimens of C. fontanum by its absence of patent glandular hairs on the calyx, having long, more ot less appressed hairs instead.
