Three small mammal species have been recovered from sediments dredged from the bottom of the Oosterschelde estuary: Galemys kormosi, Mimomys cf. pliocaenicus and Mimomys cf. tigliensis. This might be the oldest small mammal faunule so far known from The Netherlands.
