H. Reumkens, 2003. A record of Cordulegaster boltonii in the Ruscher pit near Schinveld. Brachytron 7(1): 23-26. On July 29, 2002 a Cordulegaster boltonii was observed in a small brook in the Ruscher pit near Schinveld in Limburg. It turned out to be a female busy depositing eggs in the small brook. Only a few populations are present in The Netherlands and no population, despite extensive research on dragonflies, was present in the Ruscher pits in recent years. This individual, therefore, most likely is a wanderer from some nearby population in The Netherlands or Germany. Hopefully, this record may lead to offspring and a population in the Ruscher pit in near future.
