Bijzondere waarnemingen in Limburg

There are many examples of butterfly species which have diminished or disappeared completely in the Netherlands. Recently, reports are coming in from Limburg in the very south of the country, of butterflies returning to their normal biotop. These species include Argynnis paphia, Cyaniris semiargus, Leptidea sinapis, and the moths Sphinx ligustri and Euplagia quadripunctaria. The warm summers of the past years have probably been beneficial for specimens to fly in from populations in neighbouring Belgium.
