In 2000-19, 53 of 63 breeding cases of the Goshawk Accipiter gentilis in the dunes near Castricum and Commissarisveld were successful. Causes of failure were disturbance by playing children (2x), probably territorial conflicts with another Goshawk couple (nest distances 550-760 meter, 5x) and mortality of a territorial male (possibly lethal conflict between male and a young intruder, as observed in this area on 3 May 2002).
