The anatomy, lifehistory and taxonomy of the Bryozoa are briefly discussed. Of the many recent and fossil Bryozoa only those which are characteristic for certain horizons have been named and figured. Also the occurrences of Bryozoa in erratic boulders and boulderclay have been mentioned. Amongst the Bryozoa are a few excellent guidefossils. Apart from the rich occurrences in Cretaceous sediments of Maestrichtian age in South Limburg, in general Bryozoa are not richtly represented in the various geological formations of the Netherlands.
