Further excavations of the northern wall of Hündfeld III pit at Alstätte resulted in an exposure, in the most eastern part of the pit, of Lower Aptien, the greater and older part of the pit exposes Lower Barrêmian. Both formations are separated by a scarp of a small block which collapsed wedgeshaped along the fault of Broekheurne. In the crevice of the fault a remarkable white quartzsand was noticed with in the centre a plate of sand cemented by pyrite. The origin of this sand is brought up for discussion.
