Geologie vanuit de lucht

In this article the use of aerial photographs in geology is discussed. In the first part, a brief introduction on aerial photography is presented. It deals with the historical aspects, a comparison between aerial photographs and maps, specifications in order to arrive at a threedimensional image, and specific features of the photograph proper. In the second part, the application of aerial photographs in geology is treated. Out of the many surface-expressions which are recognisable on the photographs, the landforms and drainage pattern have been selected to be used as illustrations out of the author's own experience in Surinam and New Guinea (West Irian).
