In this article, the authors, shortly summarise the literature concerning the geology and paleontology of Winterswijk (the Netherlands) with special attention to the Wellenkalk (middle Triassic). A description is given of Myophoria orbicularis (Bivalvia). A comparison between Myophoria orbicularis and Myophoria vulgaris, the latter was supposed to be the main fossil from the Wellenkalk, leads to the statement that Myophoria orbicularis BRONN (1849) is more common in the dutch Wellenkalk .
