During recent archaeological excavations carried out at Roermond town hall (province of Limburg, the Netherlands) vivianite was found. This mineral occurrence is here described, paying particular attention to its morphology. The vivianite (or probably a vivianite/metavivianite admixture) was found to be present not only on late Medieval pottery, but also in the unconsolidated sediment as very fine particles. Crystals have been found on one sherd only; their morphology is very simple.
