The find of an Acanthodian toothwhorl, more than 8 millimeters long, is reported from a Pridolian (K4) erratic limestone boulder in the Groningen area (Northern Netherlands). The specimen probably belongs to Gomphonchus and agrees in size with Gomphonchus toothwhorls reported by White (1961) from the Lower Old Red Sandstone.
