In the Dutch offshore block K9 seismic surveys for hydrocarbons revealed a saltdome very close to the seabed surface. This occurrence offers a unique opportunity for investigation on such kind of structure, which usually is less well exposed. Seismic surveys have been carried out using frequencies of 50 Hertz, 200 Hertz and 3,5 Khertz, each frequency with its own penetration and resolution. Moreover, a number of shallow borings has been made. The seismic data disclose the built-up of the structure into detail, whereas the borings penetrated through the Holocene cover into the rock. Rockfragments of flint, gypsym and calcareous material.
