The use of geophysical techniques in geological profiling has been very minimal up till now in The Netherlands. Recent developments in data collection and data processing give hope for a more widespread use of these techniques. This paper addresses the use of Reflection Seismic Profiling. A brief explanation of the measuring principles is presented and a case study is described. A combination of traditional soil investigation with borings and Electrical Cone Penetration techniques and Reflection Seismic Profiling results in a more accurate knowledge on the variation of the geological layers up to a depth of approximately 100 meters.
