Otolieten van beenvissen (telosteil) uit boring 165 te Liessel (Noord-Brabant, Nederland)

Teleostei-otolieten ('gehoorstenen' uit de schedel van beenvissen) uit de spuit-spoelboring 165 te Liessel-Hoogdonk vertegenwoordigen de eerste gepubliceerde Laat-Miocene associatie in Nederland. Een dergelijke asscoiatie was tot nu toe alleen uit Duitsland, Denemarken en België bekend. Er zijn 13 taxa gevonden, waarvan 9 op soort gefdentificeerd konden worden. Nieuwe soorten zijn niet ontdekt. In de otolieten-associatie domineren neritische elementen. De schaarse gegevens laten echter niet toe om de aangetroffen associatie met zekerheid in fén van de subetages van het Laat-Mioceen van het Noordzeebekken te plaatsen. Op basis van fora-miniferenonderzoek in een naburige boring (TNO-boring 52C0264) zou de fauna in de Bolboforma laevis/capsula zone horen, terwijl de foraminifera tot de zone FC2A gerekend worden (Langenfeldien). De mollusken uit voornoemde boring en uit de zandwinningsput te Hoogdonk zijn wellicht met de zones MOLF3/MOLF4 te correleren.Abstract The Teleostei-otoliths from boring 165 at Liessel-Hoogdonk represent the first published Late Miocene association in The Netherlands. Similar assemblages were known until now only from Germany, Denmark and Belgium. Thirteen taxa have been recorded, nine of which could be identified on the species level. New species were not discovered. The otolith assemblage is dominated by neritic elements. The association cannot be placed with certainty in one of the substages of the Late Miocene of the North Sea Basin, because the recorded data are too scarce. A micropalaeontological study of a neighbouring core (TNO-core 52C0264) indicates that the fauna may belong to the Bolboforma laevis/capsula zone (bolboforma) and to the FC2A zone (foraminifera), which is of Langenfeldian age. The molluscs from the aforementioned core and from the sandpit at Hoogdonk in the immediate vicinity probably are to be correlated with the MOLF3/MOLF4 zones.
