Exchanging suit for waders-Interview with Ben Crombaghs At the yearly RAVON M Meeting on November 21, 2009 Ben Crombaghs (48) received the Lenders Award 2009. The laureate was awarded for his stimulating, inventive and perseverant way of research and for his work on halting the decline of threatened amphibian and fish species in the Netherlands. In the interview Ben Crombaghs ventures his considerations on his work as well as on the achieved goals and the foreseable results. A main topic in his work is habitat restoration and in cases where isolation prevents a spontaneous return of species within a reasonable span of time, Ben thinks that re-introduction should be considered. The first results of a recent re-introduction project of the tree frog (Hyla arborea) in the southern part of the Netherlands turn out to be positive.
