This article explains the combines use of a camera, flash and microscope to make pictures of the developmental stages of amphibian eggs. The use of software to stack pictures and enhance their quality is discussed. Illustrations of various stages, such as the morula, blastula and gastrula, are mainly based on the eggs of the Alpine newt (Mesotriton alpestris).
