During the years 1965-1969 a part of the thrust-fault zone Oeding-Plantegaarde has been investigated at Brinkheurne near Winterswijk (Netherlands, prov. of Gelderland). The Tertiairy sediments, as well as accompanying Tertiairy and Quarternary tectonic movements were subject to detailed studies. The area proves to be in a tectonic unstable condition, which is supposed to be the result of a subterranean intrusion of Zechstein salt (salt dome), whose presence here is known since 1909. In addition an inventory had been drawn up of all sediment exposures within the area examined. Investigations are considered to be terminated in the SW—part of the salt intrusion. They will be continued in the remaining area.
