A bottom sample from the northern North Sea (Long Forties area) yielded a large number of fish otoliths and fish teeth. From the differences in the state of preservation of the otoliths it can be concluded that the East Bank Deposit (with a thickners of some 15 cm only) represents a condensed sequence (Late Pleistocene – recent). A aystematical description of the fauna, in which Gadidae dominate, is given, as well as a discussion on environmental conditions.
