Carex trinervis has recently been rediscovered in a locality in the province of Drente, where it was found already in 1953. The author discusses its habitat in the two localities in this province, which are the only recent natural occurrences of this species in the Netherlands outside the coastal dune area. Carex trinervis is most abundant here in open, dry, mobile sand (Corynephoretum, records no. 2262 and 2263), but it was also found in a light pine-wood on inland dunes (record no. 2791).
