The authors describe the syntaxonomy and synecology of the vegetation of a locality near Craubeek in which Ophioglossum vulgatum was found in 1988. Since 1950 the species has been found in Zuid-Limburg on seven localities. In general it occurs in wet or moist grasslands, but near Craubeek it occurs in a rather dry Arrhenatheretum elatioris picridetosum which is rather unusual. This syntaxon consists of subruderal meadows on moderately dry soils. Other main phytosociological elements in this community are the Mesobromion, the Origanetalia and the Artemisietea.
