During the laying-out of the nature garden Thijsse’s Hof (situated in the dune area near Haarlem) many wild plant species have been introduced that did not grow in the surrounding Bloemendaalse Bos. From these species one has established in the Bloemendaalse Bos in 1955, three in 1985 and eleven in 1013. Especially Arum maculatum L. has increased strongly during the last time. This is also an effect of eutrophication. As well in Thijsse’s Hof as in the Bloemendaalse Bos by air pollution, especially the nitrogen deposition, the habitat has become richer in nutrients. By that eutraphent species including Arum maculatum and Allium ursinum L. have increased.
