A study of the development of the atmospheric pollen was made in the environment of Nijmegen (the Netherlands) from February till July 1961. The influence of temperature, wind and precipitation upon the course of this development was investigated; especially the temperature proved to be of great influence. The data of the total pollen-precipitation were compared with the pollen-contents of two recent peat-formations, which are situated on a short distance from the place where the atmospheric pollen was catched, but have a different vegetation. The local vegetation proved to have a great influence upon the composition of the atmospheric pollen and, in consequence of that, upon the composition of the fossil pollen in the peat.
