The identity of Phyllosticta destructiva Desm. and similar Phoma-like Fungi described from Malvaceae and Lycium halimifolium

By comparative examination of type specimens and freshly collected material, and pure cultures and by inoculation experiments, it was shown that Phyllosticta destructiva 1 and numerous other Phoma-like fungi described on Malvaceae and Lycium halimifolium are identical with the übiquitous weak and wound parasite Phoma exigua Desm.
