Kinetin, zeatin or zeatin riboside applied to parts of excised leaves of Sagittaria graminea change the distance profile of 14C-a-amino-iso-butyric acid translocation in these leaves. They probably enhance the rate of accumulation of the basipetally translocated amino acid. The metabolic inhibitor carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP) appeared to act in a very similar way on amino acid translocation; it also caused chlorophyll retention. Some possible cytokinin-CCCP relations are briefly discussed.
