De spinnenfauna (Araneae) van de grindoevers langsheen de Nederlandse zijde van de Grensmaas

During a PhD-thesis concerning the arthropod fauna of dynamic river banks, 31 gravel bars and islands along the Common Meuse were sampled with pitfall traps. Thereof, 17 banks were situated at the Dutch side of this lowland river reach. River banks clearly differed in environmental properties, and by consequence the arthropods present. I discuss some remarkable findings with regard to the spider fauna (Araneae) along the right bank of the Common Meuse. The results are compared with those of the whole field-survey, including the river banks at the left bank of the river (Flanders, Belgium). In the end, I suggest river management measures to ensure the conservation of rare riparian spiders.
