Platnick in the most recent version of his catalog follows Saaristo (2006) in transferring Achaearanea tepidariorum (C.L. Koch, 1841) to Parasteatoda Archer, 1946. It is suggested here that Achaearanea simulans (Thorell, 1875) should be transferred to Parasteatoda as well and be called Parasteatoda simulans (Thorell, 1875) (comb. nov.).
