While searching for individuals of Ophiogomphus cecilia along the river Roer in the province Limburg in the Netherlands, a female of Onychogomphus forcipatus was observed and photographed. A few more individuals of O. forcipatus were observed during the next weeks in the vicinity of the first site. Until now O. forcipatus was regarded as incidental in the Netherlands only. Surveys in 2001 will hopefully proof that this riverine species has a small population in the river Roer or nearby running waters.
