On June 16, 2003 a male Coenagrion scitulum was captured near Tegelen in the southeastern part of The Netherlands. This was the first record for The Netherlands. No other individuals could be traced despite extensive searching. Therefore, this record is best regarded as an example of dispersion from a nearby population. The dispersion was most likely facilitated by the extreme warm weather of June 2003.
