Goudsmits, K. & V.J, Kalkman, 2005. Rare dragonflies in the Netherlands in 1999, 2000 and 2001, CWNO-reports 3. Brachytron 8(1): 15-23. This is the third report of the Dutch Committee for records of rare odonates. In this report records in the period 1999-2001 are reviewed. Acceptability is judged independently by each of the committee members, based on the documentation available (e.g. descriptions, drawings, pictures or collected material). Of each accepted record the province, nearby city, location (at 1 km² level), date(s), number, gender and observers are given. In addition, not (yet) accepted records and records received without documentation are listed. 1999 – Most memorable moment in 1999 was the (re)discovery of Coenagrion armatum after 43 years of absence. During a well-visited NVLexcursion to ‘De Weerribben’ a small population was found. The nature reserve ‘De Weerribben’ was also the location for the discovery of a new population of the rare Somatochlora flavomaculata. In the end of June and the beginning of July there was a small influx of Anax parthenope (like elsewhere in Northwestern Europe), followed in august by numerous records of Aeshna affinis probably also the result of an influx. In the province of Friesland the first records outside the province Drenthe of Aeshna subarctica were made. In 1998 and 1999 Coenagrion lunulatum was reported for the Dutch Waddensea-islands for the first time. 2000 – Highlights of the year 2000 were the discoveries within two days of a population of Ophiogomphus cecilia and a possible population of Onychogomphus forcipatus both at the river Roer. A female of Hemianax ephippiger found in a garden in the city of Alkmaar constituted the third record of this species in the Netherlands. Noteworthy was the discovery of a new population Coenagrion hastulatum, a species which showed a strong decline in recent decades. Reproduction of Coenagrion lunulatum was found in the dune area for the first time. 2001 – In 2001 Gomphus flavipes reproduction was proved in the river IJssel. The rare Somatochlora flavomaculata was recorded in the nature reserve ‘De Malpie’ were the species had been absent for over a decade. The first record outside the two known reproduction locations of Sympecma paedisca was made in Friesland in 2001.
