This article describes the relation between water soldier (Stratiotes aloides) and an endangered dragonfly Aeshna viridis in the Peizermaden. Both species occur in two ditches within this nature reserve. In six transects, each of about 100 metres, the density of water soldier plants (expressed as plants/m²) and the number of exuviae (expressed per m2) were determined. In the best part of the ditches, the density of larval skins was 0.66/m²; the density of water soldier plants was 55/m2. In other parts, the density of larval skins was lower, as was the density of the water soldier plants.
