In spring 1992 unusual numbers of Red Footed Falcons were observed in The Netherlands, Two stayed at the Ballooerveld for some days in the first decade of June. The Ballooerveld is a tract of moorland of 300 ha in size. The falcons were most frequently seen hunting over a little fen. Three species of dragonflies were identified among the prey: Libellula quadrimaculata (7), Leucorrhinia rubicunda (6) and L. dubia (2). Three pellets contained the remains of little beetles (1) and Zygoptera (2). During the falcon’s presence, the identified species of dragonflies were most numerous among Anisopiera.
