In late October – early November and the middle of December 1991 a few hours of seawatching were conducted from the northern Atlantic coast of Morocco. Of the ’real’ seabirds the numbers are presented in table 1. Several species of gull and Sandwich Terns regularly passed the observers in low numbers. A range of wader and duck species was seen, the most common duck being Common Scoter. Colour-ringed Audouin’s Gulls (n = 12) originated from the Chafarinas islands, the Baleares and the Ebro delta, Lesser Black-backed Gulls (n=5) from Great Britain and The Netherlands and Mediterranean Gulls (n = 2) from Italy and The Netherlands. It is stressed that, even though many people spend a birding-holiday in Morocco, details on seabird migration are lacking.
