In spite of gloomy reports about decreasing numbers of butterflies in the Netherlands, there are also signs which show that other species are returning. Specimens of Mazarine Blue ( Cyaniris semiargus), Wood White (Leptidea sinapis) and Little Blue (Cupido minimus) have flown in from colonies in neighbouring Belgium and Germany, and have hopefully settled here again. A new colony of Green Hairstreaks (Callophrys rubi) has settled on the island of Texel. The reintroduction of the Scarce Large Blue (Maculinea telejus), Dusky Large Blue ( (Maculinea nausithous) and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Clossiana selene) is going well, with new sightings every year.
