I. – Lift and drag at different angles of attack of one forewing and the whole animal with wings stretched out horizontally were measured at a wind speed of 1 m.sec.'1. Polar curves of single wings are distinguished by their broad plateau of maximum lift extending from 20° to 40° of angles of attack. Maximum lift coefficient and L/D ratio are greater in single wings.
