Soc. 54: 251-280, pis 1-2. — The dating of the §angam literature is still uncertain; it was composed in the early centuries of the Christian era. — The Tamil expression for ’dragonfly' is 'tumbi\ ’tumh’ meaning something that is curved or bent (like e g. an elephant’s tusk), and V is a suffix, denoting the condition of 'having something’).
