In the southern Netherlands, on 22 March 2016, after a flock of ducks on a fen had suddenly taken to flight, a juvenile Goshawk was seen floating on the water. The raptor was sitting on top of a duck, which was either killed already or being drowned. Two pairs of Greylag Geese Anser anser approached the Goshawk in threat postures, splashing and with wings raised and flapping. Eventually the hawk took flight, but without the killed duck which remained behind and was ignored by the geese.
