Ephemerum spinulosum Bruch & Schimp. new to The Netherlands The species was found in October 2015 at the margins of the Grootmeer, a mere between the villages Vessem and Wintelre in the province of Noord-Brabant. Unlike most meres in the Dutch Pleistocene area this mere is not acid, as a result of receiving calcareous rinse water from a nearby water company. E. spinulosum was growing all around the mere in small mats on sand with a thin silty top layer.
