During a climb to the nest of a Honey-buzzard in northern Groningen in the late afternoon of 22 July 2017, the climber and his helper on the ground were feignattacked at least five times (in 20 minutes time) by the comb-carrying adult female. The female came as close as 2-3 m of the observers, and was also alarm-calling. During the attacks she did not let go of a Vespula vulgaris comb. The male was present as well but remained silent and at a distance. The observers wore discrete clothes, the climber also a cap. The nest contained chicks of 26 and 29 days of age.
