Three nestboxes provided for Kestrels in Groningen in February 2018 were all boxes occupied that same year; 12 nestlings were raised. An inspection in February 2019 revealed that one of the boxes had been filled with pur foam, apparently to deter Kestrels from breeding. When the boxes were put up, a local resident had given a diatribe against Kestrels as one more enemy for meadow birds. The offender might therefore be sought in circles of protectionists of meadow birds.
