Two instances of a Honey Buzzard nest situated in a tree avenue (Quercus robur and mixed Quercus/Tilia sp.) amidst farmland are recorded, respectively >1000 m and some 300 m from the nearest woodland. Egg-laying did not commence in either nest, but one or two adult birds were observed at the nest or nearby (late July and August). The male using the Tilia-nest in 2018 was quite vocal, using the ticking-call for (when clocked) 3 min and 29 sec continuously. Other instances of ticking-calling Honey Buzzards are noted, mostly by non-breeding males.
