Jonge Havik Accipiter gentilis anticipeert op wat Bruine Kiekendief Circus aeruginosus teweegbrengt onder talingen

Roosjen T. 2024. Juvenile Goshawk Accipiter gentilis anticipates hunting Marsh Harrier Circus aeruginosus. De Takkeling 32: 137-139. On 4 August 2023, in a small wetland in Frisia, an adult female Marsh Harrier flushed a small flock of Teal Anas crecca except one bird that escaped via diving. Instantly, a juvenile male Goshawk turned up, that clumsily started hovering over the spot where the Teal had disappeared, at a height of 1.0-1.5 m. Meanwhile, the Marsh Harrier had disappeared. The Teal remained under water, only surfacing with its bill to draw breath. The Goshawk aborted the catching attempt after some 90 sec, apparently fatigued (bill wide open), after which the Teal took flight.
