Yoldia limatula (Say, 1831) (the File Yoldia) found for the first time in Europe in the Netherlands
Spirula , Volume 424 p. 23- 24
In a sample taken on 26 September 2019 with a boxcorer at a depth of 17.7 m in the Westerschelde estuary in the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands, a live specimen of the File Yoldia Yoldia limatula (Say, 1831) was found. The bivalve is new to Europe and the Netherlands. It originates from the north-western part of the Atlantic Ocean and was presumably transported in the ballast water of a ship. It remains to be seen whether this exotic species will prove to be invasive.
