The Kentish snail Monacha cantiana (Montagu, 1803) is common in the west of the Netherlands. On the other hand the species is rare in the province of Limburg, in the southeast of the country. Data on its occurrence in Limburg date back to 1928-1958. Recently some specimen were found along the river Meuse, i.e. in Maastricht (2018) and in Roermond (2020). No populations could be demonstrated at those sites. However, on 5 September 2020 a population was discovered along the Zandbeek brook in Geulle, at approximately one km distance from the river Meuse.
