Bijzondere vondsten uit de Boomse klei van Kruibeke

During the WTKG excursion of March 2025 to the Argex Quarry in Kruibeke (Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium) several elasmobranch teeth were found in the Rupelian Putte Member (Boom Clay Formation), including a tooth of Otodus angustidens (Agassiz, 1843) with suspected feeding damage. Besides, some rare molluscs were collected, including Hexaplex pauwelsi (Koninck, 1837) and Palliolum permistum (Beyrich, 1848). The high number of fossils recovered during this excursion is exceptional and can be explained by a winter halt in clay mining, giving the fossils a long time to become visible through natural weathering of the surface.
