The small glass blobs which are known as tektites, have a curious distribution in both space and time. Four, or probably five, areas strewn with tektites are known on earth. Similar objets are now known tot occur abundantly on the moon. An extraterrestrial, perhaps lunar, origin of the tektiles on earth is considered most likely. A recent theory on the origin of the earth-moon-Mars system allows for an explanation of their formation on the moon due to frequent meteorite impacts.
