A fragment of a skull of the steppe rhinoceros Dicerorhinus hemitoechus (FALCONER, 1868) has been found in Zuidelijk Flevoland, one of the polders in the central part of the Netherlands. The fragment contains the milkmolars DP3 and DP4, the first molar M1 and the almost fully-grown praemolars P3 and P4. The steppe rhinoceros died at an estimated age of about 4 years. This statement is based on a comparison with eruption- and the wearpattern at the living black rhinoceros Diceros bicornis. The geological information indicates an Early Weichselian (55.000 – 120.000 y. B.P.) age.
