The European Invertebrate Survey has completed a contract for the Council of Europe in Strasbourg for proposing new invertebrates to be put on the Appendices of the Bern Convention. The proposal includes several spiders, a group of organisms neglected sofar with the exception of Macrothele calpeiana (Lucas). Spiders were not attractive and did not appeal to the general public. Decisions on the proposal still have to be taken, so the names of the species cannot be revealed yet.
